The Pumpkin Patch...

For FHE we went to the pumpkin patch. It was a beautiful night and we had tons of fun. McKenna liked the hayride out to the pumpkins.

I was at Tod's football game on Saturday (he's #33) and was just taking some pictures and was messing with this one on my computer. Tell me if you like it or not!! I thought it turned out pretty good....

Life in the Burg...

These pictures are of when I went to the Idaho Falls temple with my roommates Katie and Brittany one day and we were taking some pictures...this was the first day that it snowed in Rexburg! It was so cold!!! The other pictures are from the spirit rally and 50 lap relay that the school did. I'm in the 13th ward and our colors are tie dye. Yup...Kelsey Smith and her friend Stephanie definitely wore that banana suit and definitely did a lap around the track. Lets just say because of them we didn't win the race.

I have mentioned before that Jack loves to be on his tummy. Well, almost every time he is on his tummy he spits up. I am usually right there to quickly wipe it up, but this time I was in the kitchen. I heard him making some noises and went in to check on him and found this. He rubbed his face all in it and just looked at me with his usual smile as if he was saying, "Hey mom! Is there something on my face?"

Madison's Grand Entrance....

So our little bundle arrived on Tuesday October 2. She was born at 7:23 AM and weighed 7 lbs 10 oz and was 20.5 inches long. It all started off good but about an hour and a half into it she was having trouble breathing and keeping her blood oxygen level up. I wasn't able to see her all day and then when I finally got in to hold her that evening it really went down hill. I had only held her about 10 seconds when she started choking on fluid from her stomach and turning blue and stiffening up like a board. Needless to say it was probably the scariest experience of my life. The nurse pushed a button and about every doctor in the hospital was there in a matter of seconds. They finally got her stable but it was decided that she needed to be transferred to the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) in Boise. Travis went with Madison while I was stuck in Caldwell. It was the longest night of my life!

At the NICU it was discovered that Madison had a whole bunch of air and fluid in her stomach and when she would try and spit it up she couldn't get it out of her throat and would choke on it and she would panic. She has a severe case of acid reflux and it wore her out so bad that she was just to tired to keep breathing. So that's why she has the astronaut helmet on. It is full of oxygen. Travis and I said that she got to go to space camp for a while and she was just practicing wearing her helmet.

But every day she got progressively better. She finally got off of the oxygen help on Thursday so that was a huge step forward for her. Then one by one we started getting rid of tubes and wires and she was looking healthier and healthier. Her big sister McKenna was sure proud and thought her little Madison was pretty wonderful. McKenna sang her "I am a child of God" while Madison was in the hospital and I know that it helped her. Then finally the on Saturday night at 9 PM they said that we could take her home. They made us take an infant CPR class and they put her on a monitor to keep track of her heart and her breathing. It's kind of a pain to carry around with us but that's OK. She is also on two medications. She takes one every twelve hours for her acid reflux and she also gets a tube of caffeine every morining to give her a little boost to keep her going. I think that's kind of funny. But now she is at home and we are enjoying every minute of it. She is so sweet and has a wonderful spirit. We got lucky when we got her.

We try to practice on our tummy everyday! You can see the drool...he's pretty good at that. Just a couple of days ago he rolled over on his tummy all by himself for the first time! He used to be able to only do it on the bed. It's so soft that he can get over his arm, but today he was laying on his little toy mat and he started to cry really loud. I went to check on him and he had completely rolled over and didn't kow where to go or what to do next! He was so sad, but it was pretty funny!

Us at the Lake. It was so windy...as you can tell by my lovely hair. Jack wasn't too sure about the water hitting his toes. He liked it if it was just on his feet but when a little bit bigger wave came, he was not happy! It was cute. We decided that we had to go at least one more time to the lake while the weather is still nice. I'm not sure what we are going to do when it's cold and snowy everyday! I guess we will have to move on to snowmen and hot chocolate instead of sand castles and popsicles!

This is his new favorite way to sleep, on his side. I've never seen a baby do this! He is too funny.

Isn't he to die for! I absolutely love this picture. He just looks so cute! I could be a little bias though....

We tried to prop him up to take a picture but he just ended up getting all sandy. It was still cute though.


His toes were made to wear flip flops, that's for sure.



I love his little swim trunks! He has sand all in his diaper and down his back and in his hair and every where when we got home. I guess that's what's supposed to happen at the beach!
